The Russian capital relaxed restrictions on Monday, which meant stopping the spread of coronavirus after nine weeks of lockout, even though the nation registered a continuing rise in cases.
Moscow’s non-food supermarkets, dry cleaners and repair shops and some other companies have reopened as the COVID-19 virus seems to have stabilized in the region, where around half of the country’s infections have been recorded. Restaurants , cafes, hairdressers and gyms are still closed.
Although citizens are also expected to receive electronic travel passes, residents are also permitted to stroll in the parks and participate in time-limited sporting events.
Many of Russia’s regions have remained under lockout since late March, although others have also relaxed the controls to relieve economic distress.
Russia announced another 9,035 verified cases Monday, the BBC reported.
Russia has reported approximately 415,000 infections, the third-highest caseload in the world after the United States and Brazil, with 1,797,457 and 514,849 infections, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Many specialists in Russia and abroad expressed concerns about the reasonably low death toll of 4,855 for the country, claiming that for political purposes, the authorities might have underreported coronavirus mortality.
