Ohio Government To Reopen The Economy

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine talked Sunday with “Fox & Friends Weekend” host Pete Hegseth about his efforts to slowly rebuild the state economy after he scaled back home controls and lifted some legislative restrictions.

“We’ve been able to flatten the curve,” DeWine, a Republican, said. “Our hospital admissions are fairly flat, and we have to do two things at once… get this economy moving again and… protect ourselves, protect our community.”

Last Thursday, DeWine unveiled a new “Stay Safe Ohio Order” designed to replace its previous home-stay order, which expired on Friday night.
Under the programme, surgical facilities conducting non-essential procedures and dentists and veterinarian clinics were allowed to reopen on Friday.

Restaurants, hair salons and other companies have partnered with state officials to create good procedures, but it is uncertain when they will return to work.

The transition will be gradual, DeWine said, calling it a “layering” process.

“We’ve put together different working groups. For example, we’ve got a group of folks who do hair, we’ve got a group of folks who run restaurants and these are small restaurants, midsize, and we’ve had them come back with best practices. And so, as we open an industry or we open a sector, people will be able to be assured in Ohio that best practices are being followed,” DeWine said.

“They’re not my best practices. They’re the practices that have come from people who run restaurants, people who do that.”

The full intent of this is to restart the economy while giving the business the option to cater to their costumers either by curb side or appointments.

DeWine stressed that while his state will continue to work towards complete re-opening, it is up to the Ohioans to make good individual decisions.
